The front and side panels are fitted with hand-woven rattan cane in a fine hexagonal lattice — a technique that was fashionable in Régence interiors and that here serves both decorative and practical purposes, allowing air circulation around plants. The upper rail and base moulding are articulated with gilt-finished bead-and-reel trim, and corner pilasters carry hand-carved acanthus-leaf detailing finished in antique gold — the accent that ties the whole composition together. The crowning element is a central applied cartouche in the form of an open shell flanked by C-scrolls and acanthus sprays, hand-carved and gilded, and positioned symmetrically on the front face — a hallmark of Régence ornamental vocabulary, where the shell motif first appeared before it migrated fully into Rococo asymmetry.
