Design Inspiration
Rooted in the grandeur of the French Empire period, this coffee table channels the imperial aesthetic of the early 19th century. The sweeping symmetrical marquetry — a tapestry of warm amber, walnut, and rosewood veneers — unfolds across the entire tabletop, converging on a central floral medallion of hand-painted blooms. Acanthus scrollwork and gilded arabesques frame the composition, evoking the opulent salons of Napoleonic France.
Materials & Finish
Constructed from solid hardwood, the table's top is surfaced with precision-cut marquetry veneers in contrasting natural wood tones, enriched with polychrome floral inlays at the centre. The apron features delicately carved scrolling foliage finished in gold leaf, while each of the four tapered column legs — adorned with Empire palmette motifs and fluted details — is gilded with 22-carat gold leaf applied by hand. A rich dark-walnut border frames the tabletop, adding depth and definition.
Craftsmanship
Every detail of this table is conceived and executed in the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt by master craftsmen trained in the traditions of classical European cabinetmaking. The marquetry is individually cut and laid piece by piece; the carved legs are shaped by hand and gilded through a multi-stage process that ensures lasting brilliance. The result is a heirloom-quality centrepiece that honours centuries of decorative arts.
