Rooted in the grandeur of late 18th-century Neoclassical Europe, this marble pedestal column draws from the formal vocabulary of Empire and Directoire interiors. Its slender fluted shaft rises from a robust stepped plinth, crowned by an elaborately cast gilded Corinthian capital — a hallmark of the age's reverence for Greco-Roman antiquity. The pedestal speaks to the tradition of displaying sculptural masterpieces, prized busts, and decorative objets d'art in palatial salons.

Materials & Finish

The column and base are crafted from naturally veined grey-green marble, each piece revealing its own unique cloudscape of warm amber and ivory striations. The ornamental mounts — a Corinthian acanthus capital, a collar ring at the plinth junction, and a central urn cartouche — are cast in solid brass and hand-finished to a rich antique gold tone, creating a luminous contrast against the cool stone.

Craftsmanship

Every element of this pedestal is handcrafted in the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt by artisans trained in classical European techniques. The marble is hand-selected, cut, and polished to bring out its natural depth. The brass mounts are individually cast, chased, and patinated before being fitted to the stone — a meticulous process that ensures each column is a singular work of decorative art.
