Design Inspiration
Rooted in the grandeur of the French Empire period, this column pedestal channels the Neoclassical vision of Napoleon's era — monumental yet refined. The tapering gilt-bronze column shaft, adorned with symmetrical foliate panels, anthemion friezes and figural motifs, rises from a sculptural urn-form base that transitions seamlessly into the robust rouge marble plinth below. Every proportion speaks the language of imperial ceremony.
Materials & Finish
The body is formed from genuine rouge marble — characterised by its dramatic deep crimson ground and ivory veining — lending natural warmth and weight to the composition. The ornamental mounts are cast in solid brass and finished in antique gilt bronze, replicating the ormolu tradition of 19th-century Parisian workshops. Laurel-wreath friezes, caryatid-style appliqués and acanthus detailing embellish both the plinth faces and the stepped capital, creating a continuous visual rhythm from base to crown.
Craftsmanship
Each piece is hand-assembled in the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt, where skilled artisans marry old-world casting and stone-cutting techniques with modern quality standards. The marble sections are individually cut, squared and polished; the brass mounts are hand-chased and fitted with precision. The result is a pedestal worthy of supporting a fine sculpture, a statement vase or a rare art object in any classical interior.
