The carcass is built from Romanian solid redwood dried to below 10% humidity — a specification that prevents the warping and joint failure that plague lesser furniture in Egypt's climate. The high-gloss walnut-tone lacquer finish deepens the natural figuring of the wood, creating the warm amber-brown ground against which the gilt bronze mounts read with maximum contrast. The three drawer interiors are lined in deep burgundy fabric, a detail drawn directly from 18th-century French practice, where the hidden surfaces were finished with as much care as the visible ones. The beige marble top is shaped to follow the serpentine front — a custom cut that requires hand-fitting to each individual carcass.

The drawer fronts are not flat — each follows the bombé curve of the case, which means every drawer front is a unique shaped panel. The cabriole legs terminate in gilt sabots (bronze toe caps), and the leg knees are accented with foliate bronze mounts. The corners of the case carry vertical bronze gadroon strips that both protect the edges and articulate the transition from front to side.
