There is a particular honesty to a piece of furniture that wears its texture openly. This TV console draws from the Art Deco sensibility of the 1920s and 1930s — that precise moment when designers began to reconcile geometric restraint with material warmth. The body's cork-like, heavily textured surface in a warm honey-amber tone reads almost like fossilized wood grain: deliberate, tactile, and quietly commanding. Set low to the ground on four slender antique bronze tapered legs, the silhouette is unmistakably mid-century in its horizontality, yet the surface treatment connects it to something older and more elemental.
The carcass is built from Romanian solid redwood (dried to under 10% humidity for dimensional stability), then finished with a distressed technique that builds up layers of warm ochre and amber tones, mimicking the organic patterning of natural cork or aged burl veneer. The result is a surface that changes character as light moves across it — catching warmth in the afternoon, deepening to amber in the evening. The antique bronze metal legs are tapered and slightly flared at the foot — a detail borrowed from the best mid-century cabinetmaking — giving visual lift to what would otherwise be a very horizontal mass. Each of the two drawers is fitted with a circular antique bronze ring pull, flush to the drawer face, and lined internally with a deep burgundy red fabric, adding a note of richness that is only revealed on opening.
The console sits at a media-appropriate height, its wide, low proportions ideal for placement beneath a wall-mounted television in a living room or bedroom. The two full-width drawers provide generous concealed storage for remote controls, cables, and media accessories. The clean back panel makes it equally effective floating against a wall or positioned with clearance in an open-plan space.
Every unit is handcrafted in Egypt by Brass & Wood artisans who apply the distressed finish by hand — no two pieces are exactly alike. The bronze hardware is individually aged, and the drawer interiors are hand-lined. This is a piece made with the intention that it will be noticed, studied, and kept.
The body is solid Romanian redwood finished by hand with a multi-layer distressed technique that creates a natural cork or burl-effect texture. It is not a veneer or laminate — the wood beneath is solid throughout.
Minimal assembly is required — the metal legs attach to the base with simple hardware. No specialist tools are needed, and the process takes under 15 minutes.
