Rooted in the refined vocabulary of Louis XVI Neoclassicism, this centre table recalls the great ébéniste traditions of late-18th-century Paris. The scalloped oval silhouette is softened by concave apron panels framed in dark mahogany, while a central medallion of hand-laid marquetry — swirling acanthus, roses, and ribbons — anchors the eye at the heart of the composition.
The table is built on a foundation of solid hardwood, veneered in warm mahogany with a hand-rubbed satin finish. The apron panels are finished in an aged ivory-gold lacquer, overlaid with precision-cast solid-brass ormolu mounts: foliate swags, laurel garlands, and classical friezes. Each corner block carries an acanthus-leaf medallion in full relief. The slender tapered legs are ebonised to contrast, terminating in polished brass sabots that protect the floor and complete the period silhouette.
Every piece leaving the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt is shaped, carved, and assembled entirely by hand. Marquetry veneers are cut and inlaid one sliver at a time; brass mounts are cast, hand-chased, and gilded before being individually fitted to the carcass. The result is a table that carries the weight of centuries of European decorative-arts tradition in every detail.
