Rooted in the golden age of French decorative arts, this centre table captures the essence of the Louis XV period — a style celebrated for its organic curves, lavish ornamentation, and superb integration of fine woodworking with sculptural metalwork. The serpentine shaped apron flows seamlessly into four graceful cabriole legs, each terminating in a gilded bronze sabots, evoking the spirit of the great Parisian ébénistes of the 18th century.
The table is constructed from solid hardwood, hand-carved and shaped to achieve the fluid contours emblematic of the Rococo tradition. The top surface is adorned with intricate marquetry work — a medallion of sunburst and floral motifs executed in contrasting wood veneers, creating a tapestry of warm amber and rich mahogany tones. Ornate gilt bronze ormolu mounts — festoons, foliate corner mounts, and acanthus leg capitals — are cast and hand-chased, then finished to a warm antique brass lustre by Brass & Wood artisans.
Every element of this table is handcrafted in the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt, where master woodworkers and metalworkers collaborate using time-honoured techniques. The marquetry inlay is cut and fitted by hand, the bronze mounts are individually cast, and the entire piece is assembled and polished to exacting standards — ensuring a museum-quality result that endures for generations.
