Description

Design Inspiration

Rooted in the refined splendor of 18th-century Versailles, this coffee table is a faithful homage to the Louis XVI Neoclassical movement. The square, commanding silhouette speaks of architectural order, while the centrally inlaid floral medallion — surrounded by flowing acanthus scrolls and ribbon motifs — evokes the golden age of French royal furniture. Every detail has been drawn from period masterpieces preserved in the finest European museums.

Materials & Finish

The table is constructed from kiln-dried solid mahogany, chosen for its rich reddish-brown tone and exceptional stability. The tabletop features hand-cut marquetry inlay in contrasting fruitwoods and satinwood, creating a luminous tapestry of botanical ornament. Antique brass ormolu mounts — including swag-and-bow friezes, acanthus corner rosettes, and fluted column capitals — are cast and chased by hand, then lacquered to preserve their warm gilded luster. The tapered, fluted legs terminate in elegant brass sabots.

Craftsmanship

Each table is individually hand-crafted in the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt by artisans trained in classical European joinery and marquetry traditions. The ormolu components are cast using lost-wax techniques and finished with hand-chasing, replicating 18th-century Parisian bronze-working methods. The result is a piece that carries the soul of a museum-grade antique with the reliability of a new, bespoke commission.
