The Brass & Wood Marquetry Art Dining Table is a statement centrepiece that transcends conventional furniture. Its tabletop serves as a canvas for a sweeping figurative scene — evoking the ornamental richness of Art Nouveau and Orientalist painting — with flowing botanical motifs, roses, wheat sheaves, and richly draped figures rendered entirely in wood veneer inlay. The softly curved rectangular silhouette and the boldly sculptural X-crossed base lend the piece a dramatic yet refined presence in any dining room.
Materials & Finish
The tabletop is crafted from solid wood panels dressed with an intricate multicolour marquetry surface, combining veneers of varying natural tones to build the pictorial scene. The deep dark-brown base — finished in a distressed, antiqued technique — is constructed from solid wood panels joined in a striking crossed formation, providing exceptional structural stability. The entire surface is protected by a clear lacquer coat that preserves the vibrancy of the inlay while allowing easy maintenance.
Craftsmanship
Every element of this table is shaped and assembled by hand by Brass & Wood's master artisans in Cairo. The marquetry work demands precision cutting, fitting, and pressing of dozens of individually shaped veneer pieces, a process that can span many weeks. The base panels are hand-shaped and finished individually before assembly, ensuring flawless joinery and a consistent antiqued patina throughout.
