Description

Design Inspiration

This magnificent corner table draws its soul from the golden age of French royal furniture — the reign of Louis XVI. Characterized by a return to Neoclassical restraint after the exuberance of Rococo, the Louis XVI style embraced symmetry, refined ornamentation, and the marriage of precious materials. Brass & Wood's master craftsmen have faithfully interpreted this heritage, producing a piece that would be equally at home in a Versailles salon or a contemporary luxury interior.

Materials & Finish

The table is built upon a foundation of solid mahogany, its deep reddish-brown tone enriched by a hand-applied high-gloss lacquer finish. The tabletop is a masterwork of marquetry: intricate floral and scrollwork veneers are inlaid by hand, creating a painterly composition of contrasting wood tones. Every apron panel and leg is adorned with hand-chased, antique gilt-bronze ormolu mounts — floral garlands, ribbon-tied trophies, and acanthus leaf drops — all finished in warm 24-karat gold tone. The tapered, fluted legs terminate in delicate brass sabots that protect the piece while echoing its metallic splendour.

Craftsmanship

Each table is individually hand-built in the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt, where generations of artisans apply centuries-old joinery, marquetry, and bronze-casting techniques. The ormolu mounts are cast, hand-chased, and individually fitted to each piece, ensuring no two tables are identical. The result is a heirloom-quality object that combines the soul of 18th-century Paris with the skill of contemporary Egyptian master craftsmen.
