Description

Design Inspiration

The ROOMCH65555 armchair is a faithful handcrafted tribute to the Louis XVI neoclassical style that flourished in late 18th-century France. Characterized by clean vertical lines, symmetrical proportions, and restrained yet lavish ornament, this fauteuil captures the refined elegance of the French royal court. The arched crested back, scrolled arm terminals, and fluted tapered legs are hallmarks of the period, rendered with meticulous attention to historical accuracy by the artisans at Brass & Wood.

Materials & Finish

The frame is constructed from a solid hardwood foundation and finished entirely in hand-applied gold leaf, creating a rich, luminous gilded surface that glows with depth and warmth. Every carved motif — from the acanthus-leaf arm supports and egg-and-dart apron frieze to the foliate crest rail — is individually shaped and gilded by hand. The seat, back, and loose bolster cushion are upholstered in a sumptuous sage-green damask brocade woven with rose-gold floral and foliate patterns, piped along the edges for a precise, couture finish.

Craftsmanship

Each piece leaves the Brass & Wood atelier in Egypt only after passing through multiple stages of hand-carving, gilding, and upholstery — a process that demands hundreds of hours of skilled artisan labor. The result is a salon chair of museum-grade quality: structurally sound, visually commanding, and destined to become a generational heirloom. Customization of fabric, finish tone, and dimensions is available upon request.

Placement & Styling

Ideal as a statement accent chair in a formal living room, a grand reception hall, or a private study. Pair with a matching settee or position as a standalone throne-like accent beside a fireplace or beneath a statement chandelier. The gilded frame and brocade upholstery complement ivory, champagne, and deep jewel-tone color schemes with equal authority.
