Rooted in the grandeur of the French Empire period, this column pedestal channels the aesthetic authority of Napoleonic interiors. The verde antico marble shaft rises from a boldly profiled square plinth, its deep forest-green tones veined with ivory — a stone prized since antiquity for its commanding presence. A Corinthian capital rendered in richly cast gilt bronze crowns the column, its acanthus leaves modelled with sculptural precision, while a matching ormolu torus ring marks the transition between shaft and base.
Materials & Finish
The body is crafted entirely from natural verde antico marble, celebrated for its dramatic green-and-white veining. All bronze mounts — the Corinthian capital, the torus collar, and the central patera appliqué on the plinth face — are cast in brass and finished in polished antique gilt, achieving the warm ormolu lustre characteristic of authentic Empire furniture. Every surface is hand-polished to bring out the full depth and luminosity of the stone.
Craftsmanship
Each pedestal is handcrafted in Brass & Wood's Cairo atelier by artisans trained in classical European joinery and metal-working traditions.
