The cabinet is constructed from solid mahogany with richly figured flame-mahogany veneers, lending each panel a warm, luminous depth. Slender brass inlay lines trace the cabinet's architectural geometry, while hand-applied antique gold leaf accents highlight every carved mount. Oval bevelled glass panels — framed in gilded brass with rope-twist borders — serve as the piece's signature feature, flooding the interior with light and showcasing displayed treasures. Gold-tasselled brass key escutcheons and cast acanthus-leaf corner mounts complete the lavish hardware ensemble.
Craftsmanship & Structure
Raised on four sinuous cabriole legs terminating in gilded sabots, the vitrine's lower stage incorporates a shaped frieze drawer adorned with a central scrollwork cartouche and flanking brass bosses. The upper cabinet opens via two side doors — each bearing a full oval glass panel — and a mirrored central compartment, creating an intimate display space bathed in reflected light. Every joint, mount, and surface is finished by hand in Brass & Wood's Cairo atelier, honouring centuries-old European woodworking traditions.
