This magnificent commode draws its soul from the exuberant Rococo workshops of 18th-century France, where furniture was considered sculpture. The characteristic bombe silhouette — swelling outward at the front and sides — was the hallmark of the Louis XV atelier, celebrating organic movement over rigid symmetry. Every scrolling acanthus tendril, every floral cartouche speaks the language of a royal palace.
The carcass is constructed from kiln-dried solid hardwood, veneered in rich walnut burl whose natural figuring creates an ever-shifting tapestry of colour. Delicate lighter-wood marquetry inlays trace sweeping foliate arabesques across every surface. The crowning white Carrara-style marble top provides cool, luminous contrast to the warm amber of the wood. All hardware — corner mounts, keyhole escutcheons, side handles, and cabriole-leg sabots — is cast in solid brass and hand-finished in antique gilt, replicating authentic 18th-century ormolu.
Each piece is handcrafted in our Cairo atelier by artisans trained in classical European joinery and metal-casting traditions. The marquetry is cut and inlaid by hand, the brass mounts are individually chased and burnished, and the lacquer finish is built up in multiple coats for depth and durability. The result is a statement heirloom that elevates any drawing room, bedroom, or entrance hall.
