Rooted in the opulent aesthetic of the Napoleon III era, this Brass & Wood dining chair captures the spirit of mid-nineteenth-century French court interiors. The ebonized frame provides a dramatic dark canvas against which gilded acanthus carvings, rope-twist mouldings, and turned finials shine with aristocratic brilliance. The spindle back, a hallmark of the period, creates an elegant openwork silhouette that balances refinement with visual lightness.
The frame is crafted from solid wood finished in a deep ebonized lacquer, then enriched with hand-applied gilded ornamentation along the crest rail, seat apron, and leg capitals. The seat is generously padded and upholstered in a champagne-toned damask fabric displaying a classic floral medallion repeat, finished at the apron edge with a delicate gold braid trim.
Every detail — from the turned corner posts crowned with gilt finials to the carved foliate brackets at the leg junctions — is executed by hand in the Brass & Wood Cairo atelier. The gilding is applied using traditional techniques that ensure depth and warmth consistent with authentic period pieces.
This chair is available in two configurations: With Arms, featuring upholstered arm pads resting on carved supports for added comfort, and Without Arms, the classic side-chair form ideal for maximising seating capacity around a dining table.
