Description

Design Inspiration

Rooted in the grandeur of the French Empire period, this dining chair captures the bold symmetry and imperial authority that defined Napoleon's court interiors. The sweeping back rail, anthemion crest mount, and rope-twist gilded borders echo the neoclassical vocabulary of the early nineteenth century, reimagined by Brass & Wood's master craftsmen for today's most distinguished dining rooms.

Materials & Finish

The frame is constructed from fine solid hardwood finished in a rich dark mahogany-toned stain that sets off the brilliant gilt bronze mounts to breathtaking effect. Every ormolu-style appliqué — from the central fan anthemion at the crest rail to the acanthus collar rings on the tapered front legs and the continuous rope-border along the back stiles — is hand-applied and individually polished. The seat and back panel are upholstered in a lustrous ivory damask woven with an allover floral and foliate pattern, providing both visual richness and comfortable support.

Craftsmanship

Each chair is built entirely to order in Brass & Wood's Cairo atelier. Joinery is executed using traditional mortise-and-tenon techniques, and all carved and cast ornaments are hand-finished before gilding. No two pieces are identical; slight variations in the hand-applied gilding are the natural signature of authentic artisan production. Customisation of fabric colour and finish tone is available upon request.
